DIY 2: PISTACHIO SHELL CRAFT

Hullo! This post feels a lot like a personal diary entry (which is fine because I left my diary in my dorm when I came back home, and have been yearning to write down certain things that went down during the last few months; only now, I'm typing.)

A couple of months into lockdown with almost nothing productive done (except for catching up with lecture classes online, which believe me, weren't that easy to go through because when you're already on the internet and have your devices in hand, concentrating on hour-long lectures aren't that easy. I'd pause the videos in between and get lost in the world of social media and games- the result being hour-long videos turning into a day-long tasks. And because of all the breaks in between I'd hardly have retained any material.)

Phew! Those were a lot of sentences within the parenthesis, so I'm going to come out now ( ;) ) and finish typing up about it. Where was I? Oh, yes, my kinda sucky concentration and as you'd have guessed by now, my kinda sucky memory xD!

Honestly, I just look back now, 4 months down already and I feel guilty for not having spent my time wisely and or having spent most of it on being a complete and utter sloth. One of my teachers back in school had said, "You don't really love sleep; you only love the idea of it, because when you do sleep you don't really realize it at point of time!" It hits me so hard now because it's so true.

All the wasted hours.. doing nothing. Hey, don't get me wrong, sleeping is absolutely essential but only as much as the body requires. I had even gotten to a point where I slept 16 hours a day; and that kind of sleep is what I'm absolutely against. But, boy, is it hard! :(

It was just another day of self-realization as this, a day that comes-and-goes ever so often; plays hide-and-seek with me- perfectly concealed under the never-ending hours of my sleep and the day I seek it is the day something productive finally happens.

My mother and I have always been fond of craft, and above all, collecting materials for craft-making. Sometimes, they are store bought and on other occasions, they are just reused materials carefully preserved in a hope of future use.

Fortunately for me, a heap of pistachio shells caught my eye. And I googled innovative craft ideas that I could do. I had bigger ideas in mind, than what I'm about to show you, however, my lazy genes kicked in soon enough and I let it be. The piece looked so cute. It now sits proudly on a rack in my living room, competing with the other showpieces for a stolen glance or two ;) .

So simple and yet SO MUCH fun!

Thank you for reading <3
