Welcome to 'Rustic Palate - by Priyanshu Kumar'.

Being my first post, I find it mandatory to give a brief introduction to me and my blog. You must be wondering what this blog is all about and how this is any different than the other lifestyle blogs out there. I intend to give a picture, if not a clear one, of what Rustic Palate is going to be about.

 rustic: /ˈrʌstɪk/ - made in a plain and simple fashion.
palate: /ˈpalət/  - a person's ability to distinguish between and appreciate different flavours.

 What? An oxymoron, you say? How does having the ability to appreciate an array of sophisticated flavours and simplicity go hand-in-hand? That's the beauty of simplicity. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Simplicity is often times more beautiful. One doesn't have to be a perfectionist and a know-it-all to appreciate something and find something beautiful. 

 Below are the answers to all the questions you might have regarding my blog:

So, why 'Rustic Palate'? What significance does the name 'Rustic Palate' have to you and to your blog?

Because 'Rustic Palate' is precisely what defines me. I've wanted to do this for a very long time now. Unfortunately for me, school work and examinations have pretty much consumed my time (and my life) so far. But people do find time for something and someone they love, don't they? I expect to do the same. I have a lot of love to give, and I am delighted I have found someone (my Rustic Palate) to shower some of it upon.

 Something as simple and as rustic as a home-made cheese sandwich never fails to delight me. It's simple but tasty. The bread crust still on and all of its rugged edges are beautiful to look at. I don't believe in a 100% finesse. Anything, with love and being true to its name, is what makes me happy. I believe in doing anything and everything that makes ME happy. 

Hey, Priyanshu, how did you come up with this name?

Hullo, reader, it wasn't that hard to come up with. I went with my instincts and with a little validation from a fellow blogger and well-wisher, I had made up my mind. 'Rustic Palate' is what I've set my heart and mind to. This is it. My brand. Mine. 

If you think a little further, you'd realize 'palate' and 'palette' are homophones. I want to incorporate as many colours and textures in my blog as possible. I believe that with a little combination of simplicity, colours and taste, I can truly do Rustic Palate the justice it deserves. 

(Also, a little experimentation with other names was disastrous. Oopsie.)

What can I find here? 

To be honest, I don't know. I can't tell you everything at this point. Is it going to be all over the place? Maybe.

  • I love cooking. Food posts? Probably recipes? Yes. Definitely. 
  • I have participated in a number of elocutions and writing competitions. Speeches and essays? Probably. 
  • I have had quite a few experiences and have in store stories to share with my readers. So, those? Yes.
  • On a bright sunny day or a dark gloomy night, my mind is set on Poetry. Will you find them here? Yes (if they are not trash.)
  • A DIY Corner? Definitely.

Rustic Palate will be MY way to cram down my thoughts and trace them later on. 

The truth is, Rustic Palate will develop with time. There may be a number of things you'd think are out of place, or not worth writing a blog post about. I value your feedback. I respect your opinion. 

I hope you will take this journey with me, will pinpoint my mistakes and help me and my blog get only better with time.

DIY 2: PISTACHIO SHELL CRAFT

Hullo! This post feels a lot like a personal diary entry (which is fine because I left my diary in my dorm when I came back home, and have been yearning to write down certain things that went down during the last few months; only now, I'm typing.) A couple of months into lockdown with almost nothing productive done (except for catching up with lecture classes online,which believe me, weren't that easy to go through because when you're already on the internet and have your devices in hand, concentrating on hour-long lectures aren't that easy. I'd pause the videos in between and get lost in the world of social media and games- the result being hour-long videos turning into a day-long tasks. And because of all the breaks in between I'd hardly have retained any material.)  Phew! DIY 1: Necklace Organiser

Seeing the pressure of schoolwork building and the stress finally getting to me, my father decided to take us all out to dinner. This was in an effort to help me de-stress and spend some quality time with them. I reluctantly agreed. A big thanks to that fateful evening. After getting into my favourite jeans and the most comfortable top I owned, I realised it was worth accessorising. Boy did I spend time on searching for the right neck-piece! There were several boxes, all kept in different locations, to look in. Tiring? A little.  Jewellery Cluttered into boxes?  Probably not organised enough. So, anyway, I was clearing out my room and found a cute hanger, which had probably come with a piece of clothing I had bought earlier. All of a sudden, as if out of nowhere, an idea struck me.
